VOCA

There are college fairs and even some job fairs for teens, but our society tends to do little (or nothing) to prepare young adults to consider the REAL QUESTION: What were you Created to do?

That’s because we have been taught to think of “jobs” and “God” as separate, and even competing concepts. We rarely step back to think holistically about our spiritual calling in the workplace.

That’s why Vocari is offering VOCA! to equip teens with the tools, experience, and vision to think about their life direction in a holistic, spiritual manner, regardless of their ideological starting point.

What? Students will take three online tests that profile their personality type and vocational interests. We will discuss what the test results confirm for them as well as potential surprises or questions. Our focus is on helping students focus on their potential direction from a holistic, spiritual, and individual perspective.

In addition, students will get to speak with a few hand-picked adults to learn about their professions and to learn how to talk with adults about their vocations. Each student will get to interview an adult in the field of their choice.

Finally, each student gets a personal notebook to create their own vocational profile, including learning from interviews and tests during the quest.

With comedy and games, students will consider – perhaps for the first time in their lives – what they were created to do, what is the difference between a vocation or “calling” and a job, what types of work God might be calling them to do, and how to find out.

Who? VOCA! Is open to any high school student who has completed grades 9, 10, 11, or 12. Space in this series is limited to 12 students

When? We will meet over 4 Monday evenings from 6:30-9:00 pm, July 12, 19, 26, and August 2.

Where? This series will be hosted by the Cerullo home at 966 San Simeon Drive, Concord (near Treat Blvd. and Oak Grove).

How much? There is a $5 contribution per session for pizza, burgers, etc., plus instruction, three vocation profile tests, speakers, mentoring, journal, and prizes.
